Te Manu Tū Kē – Tukuna kia rere!
Te Manu Tū Kē, the Bird that stands in its own uniqueness’, is a powerful statement that fully embodies the distinctive and extraordinary attributes and qualities of a child from Manutūkē School.
We celebrate ‘uniqueness’ in the context of our connection with our iwi, Rongowhakaata, our tipuna, history, reo, tikanga, and within the environs defined by our tribal boundaries.
Our children are encouraged to stand proud, yet humble in their difference; to confidently and competently use their special talents, gifts and skills to take flight and share with the world.
Building skills for the Future through Culturally Connected Learning.
Te Manu Tū Kē – Kia Rere ki te Ao!
Ngā Maunga Toa o Rongowhakaata
- We are embraced and protected by our three maunga, Puketapu, Manawarū, and Papatū.
- The use of this whakatauāki as our Mission statement supports our Māori worldview through a distinctively Manutuke / Rongowhakaata lens.
- Metaphorically, we draw strength from each maunga and align our Values and Guiding Principles to provide substance and meaning to our actions.
- Ngā Maunga o Rongowhakaata provides a metaphorical and visual landscape for our ‘whare’ (te marau o Manutūkē) to be nestled within, guarded and nurtured.
