NATIONAL TEACHERS’ STRIKE PANUI

Tena koutou nga matua me nga whanau o te Kura o Manutuke,
Greetings to the parents and whanau of the Kura o Manutuke

The Board of Trustees cannot provide teaching or supervision for our students during the upcoming strike.

The NZEI (primary principals’ and teachers’ union) has advised the Manutuke School Board of Trustees and our teachers that the principal and the teachers at our school will be taking strike action for the whole of the school day:

·          From 8.45a.m., on Wednesday 15 August 2018

·          To 2.35p.m., on Wednesday 15 August 2018i.e. one school day.

The Board has carefully considered the availability of teaching staff on this day, and unfortunately have decided that we cannot provide the normal teaching services during the strike. Therefore, we must ask our whanau to please make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children on that day of the strike.  The principal and all of our teachers will be on strike, thus for the safety of the tamariki, we cannot provide teaching or supervision.

The school will need to close during this strike.  The Board understands that this may be inconvenient for parents, whanau and students alike, and seek to reassure you all, that student safety is our main concern, in the decision to close.  We believe too in supporting our teachers/kaiako in this strike action, in the hope that they may be able to capture, what is the very best for the teachers and in the end, for our tamariki.

We ask for your understanding and thank you. Please contact Koka Rakairoa if you have any queries relating to this decision.
